Kunming Lake

#917. View from Longevity Hill. Kodak ColorPlus 200, Olympus Trip 35.
Sarah & I toured the Summer Palace on our first full day in Beijing, China. It was a spectacular day but Sarah wasn’t too pleased with me by the end. The temperature reached an incredibly hot 40˚C, and not only did I make her climb to the top of Longevity Hill to take some photos, but I also got us lost on our way back to the Metro. We eventually made it back to our hotel room to cool off before dinner.

This is Kunming Lake and it is part of the Summer Palace in Beijing.

  1. Wonderful. I visited (and worked in) China in 1985, and went to Kunming Lake more than once. One of my favorite spots. I had hundreds of photos of those months in China, but lost all of them in a house fire in 2015. Such a delight to see these photos!

    1. Thanks Ed! Sorry to hear you lost all your photos — and your house, I presume? But I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
