Xi’an Muslim Quarter

Of the many places that Sarah & I visited in China this summer, one of my favourites was the Xi’an Muslim Quarter. I could have spent hours wandering and photographing the Muslim Quarter’s night market. It was simply incredible! Sadly, I was unprepared that night and hadn’t brought enough film. These are some of the […]
Chinese Calligraphy

I recently visited China for my honeymoon. Sarah and I spent three weeks travelling the country visiting many places including the city of Chengdu, where we spent an afternoon in People’s Park. Near the Railway Protection Movement Monument, we saw an old man practicing calligraphy. He was writing poetry on the pavement with a brush […]
Myra Canyon

Last summer, Sarah & I rented some mountain bikes and rode along the Kettle Valley Railway in Myra Canyon near Kelowna, BC. I took many photos that day and these are the few I shot with my Lomography La Sardina Splendour camera.
Jericho Beach

This is the pier at Jericho Beach. It may look like typical Vancouver cloudy weather, but that is in fact smoke from the BC forest fires last summer.
Getting Married

Sarah and I are getting married today. We met two years ago while travelling and have been inseparable ever since. I love her dearly and am happy to spend the rest of my life with her.
Fun with Fukkatsu

These were shot using the FPP’s new Fukkatsu B&W 100 film for 110 cameras! The scratches are on the negative and I suspect it happened in camera.
Shooting CineStill 50D at the Zoo

Here are some more photos from the Calgary Zoo. I quite like the skin tones of CineStill 50D film. It’s not surprising given that it’s cinematic film.
Mini Donuts

I have a thing for mini donuts. The taste of cinnamon and warm, deep-fried dough is good even on a hot day. So when Sarah and I were at the Calgary Zoo last summer, I just had to have some mini donuts. I had a roll of Kodak Gold Plus 100 in my camera and […]
Shanghai GP3 Portraits

I managed to get my hands on a roll of Shanghai GP3 100 B&W film and shot these in studio with Sarah. My Mamiya C220 is a fully manual TLR that doesn’t have a hotshoe. Instead it has a PC socket with a M-sync / X-sync switch. Using a cable, I can connect the Mamiya […]
Lemurs

Sarah and I visited the Calgary Zoo back in July. I shot a lot of expired film that day. These shots of the lemurs were taken with expired Fuji Superia 100 film.
Fish Creek Park Part 2

I tested this roll of Konica Centuria 200 at Fish Creek Park. These were shot at ISO 50.
Fish Creek Park

I hiked around Fish Creek Park one day testing some expired film. These were my results with a 110 roll of Agfa XRG 200 film.
Elbow Falls Part 3

Still more photos from my trip to Elbow Falls with Sarah. These were shot on expired (and no longer available) Lomography Redscale 100. Its replacement is the much improved Lomography Redscale XR 50-200.
Elbow Falls Part 2

Here are some more photos from my trip to Elbow Falls with Sarah. These were shot on Kodak Gold 100.
Elbow Falls

Sarah and I took a trip to Elbow Falls one day. These were shot using Agfa Vista 100 film.
Drumming

I love experimenting with new-to-me and expired film. These were shot using some old Agfa HDC 100 film that I recently acquired. I bought a variety of expired film on eBay and I’ve been steadily working through the lot with hit and miss results. It is always a good idea with expired film to give […]
